..why?.. Select cedar has a finer more attractive grain. Cedar is resistant to insects and rot.
Cedar weathers to a smooth grey, while PT lumber can leach unevenly. Cedar is a better match to most composite and synthetic deck woods.

..how?.. Cedar does require a seasonal wipe down with Thompsons WaterSeal to help resist cracking due to extreme temperature variations and cold. you can also use Cabot stains to stain your gate.
Deep dado joints - each slat sinks deep into the hand and foot rail, to hold back your large dogs and children. With small pets, we can make the slats close together!
Each gate is 2 1/8" thick. Works with any standard or decorative strap hinge from your local hardware store.

No ugly screws are visible on either the front or backside of the gate. Cedar graining is superior to pressure-treated pine lumber and is also lighter, making it easier to install.
